As you hold one of our Corporate policies* and your employer contributes to your premium payment, there are some additional things you need to know about how your cover works. These are general arrangements, which may vary depending on the agreement your employer has with Medibank.^
Things you need to do
- If at any stage you become aware that the information we hold in relation to your policy is incorrect, you need to inform us immediately.
- Medibank requires a valid email address for all Corporate customers. We may use this email address to contact you about your membership, so it’s important that you let us know if it changes.
Responsibility for premiums
- Your employer has agreed to pay all or part of your premium.
- If your employer has agreed to pay part (but not all) of your premium, you are responsible for the remaining amount, including any Lifetime Health Cover loading component of your premium that your employer has not agreed to subsidise.
- You will be responsible for all tax implications of the policy, including any obligation to repay the Australian Government Rebate to the Australian Tax Office if you incorrectly nominate your rebate tier.
- Any premium contribution you are required to make must be paid via payroll deduction and you undertake that you have given, or will give, your employer authorisation to make those payroll deductions
- If your employer notifies us that it will no longer pay or contribute to your premium, you will become immediately responsible for the payment of all of your premiums from that date.
- Memberships in arrears will be treated in accordance with Medibank’s arrears processes.
- Where a refund of your premium is due, you will receive a refund equal to your contribution to the amount and your employer will receive a refund equal to its contribution to the amount.
- Where your employer pays part or all of your premiums in advance, those amounts will be deemed to be paid to Medibank in the relevant month in which the premium was otherwise due.
Out of pocket expenses
- You will be responsible for all out of pocket expenses not covered by your policy, including any excess or co-payment.
Commissions payable
- Fees, commissions or other benefits may be paid by Medibank to intermediaries in respect of Corporate Cover
Changes to the policy
- If you want to make a change to your cover, you may need to make this request via your employer.
- Where a change affects the premium, it may require your employer’s approval. For example, changing from a single to a couple policy.
- Your employer may request changes to your policy on your behalf, but cannot make changes to your policy without your consent.
- Changes to your policy may affect the amount of premium you will be required to pay.
- Your employer cannot cancel your cover but will be able to remove you from a subsidised product.
